Arizona Nonprofit Fundraising Registration Overview
Last Updated: February 2026
Unlike most states, Arizona generally does not require most charitable organizations to register before soliciting donations. The state’s charitable solicitation filing requirements primarily apply to certain organizations that raise funds in connection with veterans-related charitable activities.
Organizations conducting nationwide fundraising should still evaluate Arizona’s rules as part of their overall compliance strategy.

When Registration Is Required
Arizona law no longer requires most nonprofits to complete a charitable solicitation registration before fundraising. Registration obligations generally apply only to organizations engaged in specified veterans-related solicitation activities.
Out-of-state nonprofits that fall within those requirements may register under Arizona’s solicitation laws without separately qualifying as a foreign corporation solely due to fundraising. However, additional in-state business activity may trigger other filings.
Initial Registration Process (If Applicable)
Organizations subject to Arizona’s filing requirement submit their registration to the Arizona Secretary of State.
Filing Office
Arizona Secretary of State
Veterans Charities Program
Filing Method
Filings are typically submitted by mail or delivered in person.
Filing Fee
A filing fee is generally not required for the applicable registration.
Signature Requirements
An authorized officer or director generally must sign the filing, and the signature must be notarized.
Documents and Information Commonly Required
Organizations that must register typically provide:
- State registration form specific to veterans-related solicitations
- Portions of the organization’s federal informational return
- IRS determination letter
Exemptions From Registration
Because Arizona does not require broad charitable solicitation registration, most nonprofits do not need to file an exemption request.
Organizations should still maintain documentation supporting their exemption status for due diligence or audit purposes.

Renewal and Ongoing Reporting
Arizona generally does not require annual renewal or ongoing financial reporting for most charitable organizations.
Organizations that are registered under the veterans-related program should confirm whether updates or withdrawal filings are necessary if activities change.
